Technische Universität Eisenfeld is a scientific institution for engineering, computer science and the responsible development of technology.

History and heritage

Founded in 1868 as the Royal Bavarian Trade School of Eisenfeld, the university grew out of the ironworks of the Ilm valley. What began as a school for machine builders became a technical university that today unites engineering, computer science and behavioural research under one roof.

Milestones

  1. 1868The Eisenfeld trade school opens with 42 students in the former forge hall of the Ilm valley ironworks.
  2. 1911Elevated to a technical college; the first chairs in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering are established.
  3. 1949Post-war reconstruction, admission of women to every subject and the founding of the Institute of Materials Science.
  4. 1972The right to award doctorates is granted and the institution is renamed Technische Universität Eisenfeld.
  5. 1989The computing centre and the first computer science faculty open, together with an automation laboratory.
  6. 2004All degrees move to the bachelor's and master's structure under the Bologna process.
  7. 2016The Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems opens, with remotely operated laboratories.
  8. 2026Launch of the Global Track for international students and expansion of the administrative office in Munich.

Organisation and leadership

Leadership, governing bodies and organisational structure will be published once institutionally approved — President Prof. Dr.-Ing. Katharina Volkmann, Vice-President for Research Prof. Dr. Milan Petrov, Chancellor Dr Jonas Brehme, Senate, University Council and Executive Board under the Saxony-Anhalt Higher Education Act.

Accreditation and recognition

Only confirmed information will be published concerning institutional status, awarding authority, regulatory body, quality assurance, programme accreditation and international recognition: state-recognised technical university with the right to award doctorates, the TU Eisenfeld examinations office, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Saxony-Anhalt, Magdeburg, internal quality management under ESG 2015 with an annual teaching report and external review every six years, programme accreditation by ASIIN e. V., valid until 30 September 2031, degrees recognised under the Lisbon Recognition Convention and across the ENIC-NARIC network, with ECTS and Diploma Supplement.
